Note:
The Spaghetti Bowl trails are between the north side of the Sam
Tobias Campground and the surrounding built up areas of Ruidoso.
They may have begun as informal trails, some following old
logging roads. Since about 2010, there has been intensive
thinning of the forest in this area in order to minimize fire danger to
the surrounding areas. As of the end of 2013 the thinning seems
to be ending. There is a lot of forest debris, which will decay
in the next few years. It is likely that the Forest Service will now work on improving the trails and
providing signage.
Even without signage, you should not get
seriously lost. Head downhill and you will come to the Sam Tobias
campground along Cedar Creek Road. | |

DESCRIPTION:
T120C follows an old road, which starts near the junction of T120A and its
connector trail. The best reason to
hike T120C is to avoid the eastern portion of T120, which is intermittent,
steep, and difficult to follow reliably.
ACCESS:
From the intersection of Mechem
Drive (NM48) and Cedar Creek Road (FR88) drive along Cedar Creek Road 0.2 miles
to the small parking lot on the right, directly across from the T90 Fitness
Trail parking lot. The connector trail
leads out of the corner of this parking lot and follows the stream. After 0.3 miles, it intersects unsigned T120A
[J7]. The unsigned junction of T120A and
T120C is a few yards further west. The
upper end of T120C is an unsigned junction with T120 [J5]. | |
