Note:
The Spaghetti Bowl trails are between the north side of the Sam
Tobias Campground and the surrounding built up areas of Ruidoso.
They may have begun as informal trails, some following old
logging roads. Since about 2010, there has been intensive
thinning of the forest in this area in order to minimize fire danger to
the surrounding areas. As of the end of 2013 the thinning seems
to be ending. There is a lot of forest debris, which will decay
in the next few years. It is likely that the Forest Service will now work on improving the trails and
providing signage.
Even without signage, you should not get
seriously lost. Head downhill and you will come to the Sam Tobias
campground along Cedar Creek Road.

DESCRIPTION:
At first T120B follows a nearly level old road. In its northern portion it descends and
ascends as it crosses a series of small ravines. There is not much to recommend about T120B,
but if you are looking for something a bit more challenging than T120A, go for
it. You may wish to make a loop with the
western portion of T120 and T120E (approximately 2 miles total).
ACCESS:
From the intersection of Mechem
Drive (NM48) and Cedar Creek Road (FR88) drive along Cedar Creek Road and enter
the Sam Tobias campground area. When you
have driven approximately 0.8 miles from the intersection, park and locate the
old road leading away from the campground.
The first portion of the old road is actually part of T121A. Hike up the road 0.1 miles to an unsigned
fork [J8]. The right fork is T120B. The upper end of T120B makes an unsigned
junction with T120 [J2].
